Hello SuSE people, Running 10.0 and KDE3.5.5 Googled and "man" ed for hours without addressing this particular scenario. Guess I just don't understand, and more frustrating, I don't know how to find or get at the files that control the following behavior. Used to be, when I inserted a music CD two items opened. One was KDEDaemon which asked me what I wanted to do, and another which I cannot recall what it was called. Don't remember exactly but I configured one of them to open XMMS which I wanted, and it does. But now when I put in the CD, XMMS opens and the KDEDaemon also opens, and I have to tell it to do nothing or else it opens a different player. OK, continuing on. it used to be that when I inserted a movie DVD, I got the same two programs again. Told KDEDaemon to use Mplayer and told it to always use it. Now when I insert the movie DVD I get this message, "Method "Mount" with signature "ssas" on interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" doesn't exist" from KIOExec and it doesn't open. What??? does that mean? After that nonsense, I can however, open Mplayer directly and ask it to play the movie DVD and it works just fine. Yes, I can live with these annoyances and make things work but I really would like to make it "work right". I do remember a thread on this several months ago but darned if I can find it now. What are?? these two competing things? and which are evidently stepping on each other. Bob S. Oh, yes both the CD and DVD player are in fstab. And do not have any problems mounting my camera, memory sticks etc.
