Is susewatcher running? That will automatically put the icons on her desktop, but they are not really on her desktop. She would need to copy them to her desktop (initially she will have 2 each), then activate susewatcher. Once it has been started, it will no longer put the regular icons on the desktop, leaving only the copy she made, which is really on her desktop. This one she could delete if she wanted. BTW, she may need to logout and then back in to see the change. HTH.

Hi, Joe. Thanks for the reply. Another good question. I'll have to ask her if she has SuSEWatcher running. My wife and I do not have SuSEWatcher running because it screws up our icon placement everytime we reboot or turn off the pooter. What an annoyance! We assume our daughter is not running SuSEWatcher but maybe she is? Thx. again for one more thing to check as we investigate this mystery. :o) Gil
