Try using the XF86Setup program instead of xf86config to configure your x-windows. XF86Setup won't automatically give you the virtual resolution. Otherwise, you can edit your XF86Config file and delete any lines that are similar to this Virtual 1024 768 That is what makes your virtual screen. mc Anatoli Iouditski wrote:
Hello,
I hav just installed Suse Matrox X-server on 2 PII PC with Matrox Mill 2 board (not the xsvga but xmatrox which comes with 5.1 distribution). I have set the monitor and all, however some problems accured: 1) though I have asked for NO virtual display, the X starts with a virtual display of 1280x1024 and smallest resolution (640x480). Is there any way to desactivate it. I have parsed the XF86Config and commented all the references on ViewPort, but...; 2) I typically receive a lot of garbage on the screen when moving the viewport over the virtual display, as well a when after locking the screen; 3) one of the screens shows a strange trace after the pointer in 1184x856 (smth) resolution, though it works ok in 1280x1024.
Would be glad to get some tips,
