I have been using Linux in preference to Windows for web site and documentation work and everthing is great. SO now I am down to the last bits of the jigsaw.
Currently the printer ( an Epson 1290 ) is sitting on the Windows server, and I can see it in LinNeighborhood, but can I actually print to it from Linux?
Yes you can. Use Yast2 to define it as a remote printer on a samba machine.
SUSE 8.0 with OpenOffice 1.0 ( the SUSE Office CD is on order <g> )
The way things are going, the server will have Linux on it soon, then how do I work the other way. I Can't get rid of the Windows machines as I have to run C++Builder in parallel with Kylix for some time to come <G>
Windows->Samba works just as well ( if not better ? =) Set up the printer as a local printer on the server, then install the printer driver ( if it hasn't been done already ) on the clients. Make sure samba is installed, correctly configured, and running. Printing should be no problem :-) -tosi
