I have never tried firewaire / Linux, but I was in a Linux Seminar this afternoon and some very smart people said the 2.6.x firewire support was very iffy. If you want reliable firewire support across numerous platforms, they said you should revert to the 2.4.x kernel. For SUSE Pro, that means reverting to 9.0. Not much in /var/log/messages other than this. It crashed out so I dont know exactly how it tallies sorry. I did turn it off/on a few times though (as you can see).
