You installed VMware in the newest version on SuSE Linux 9,0
and it surprised is that it does not function?
Here the step for step guidance...
A) all VMware services on your system stop.
#/etc/init.d/vmware stop
b) VMware deinstallieren
# RPM e -- nodeps VMware workstation (1)
C) with YaST2 (graphic) now of DVD/CD the following Klamotten again install.
1. YaST2 open
2. Software install
3. Selection list right to "searches" set.
4. Look for "kernel"
The installed Kernel is already marked.
5. Right-click "update" select.
The Sourcen of the respective SuSE Kernels should likewise already marked
its, thus Right-click "update" select. or if still no Sourcen on the
computer is "kernel SOURCE" select and install.
7. Look for for "vmware" and then "km_vmware" install or right-click
"update". Ever after; -)
D) attention NVidia user: Those become possible with this action Nvidia
driver geplaettet. Thus for security:
1. Out KDE/GNOME /??? raus go.
2. With STRG+ALT+F1 on console go.
3. Announce as roots.
4. "INIT 1" type.
5. root password type again.
6. install the driver again with "sh NVidia....".
7. sax2 _ _ do not implement, because the configuration
for the x-server already stands.
8. Test test --> Reboot.
e) VMware 4,05 install again.
f) with the run "vmware config.pl" everything as had.
Note: The Kernel modules must be built, but if the Script, whether it is to
also install these, an in any case clear asks NO

Ok guys,
I'm posting this from VMware, so it works!!! :))
I've used the mini-HOWTO from Martin Mewes, and that solution worked: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux/2003-Oct/3345.html
Thanx all!!
Marco
Is there an english translation of this mini-howto available? I am expecting my 9.0 upgrade any day and I need to run VMware at work (or drop linux for M$ all together).
