Hi,
I am investigating replaceing my outdated Marconi ADSL modem router with this item http://trendnet.com/langen/products/proddetail.asp?prod=170_TEW-435BRM&cat=3 from Trendnet. The website indicates that this unit is Windows, MAC and UNIX compatible but not specifically Linux ciompatible. I have checked the HCL at opensuse and have not found the unit. Trendnet seem to be very pro Linux as further digging on their site under support brought up an OS compatibility list where Linux and not UNIX was listed.
The only concern with such devices, would be if they require Internet Explorer for configuration. Fortunately those ones are rare. Given that the Marconi device supports Unix, along with Mac & Windows, you'll likely been fine with Linux.
On the trendnet page there is an emulator for the modem's setup web server (under additional info - view emulator). As far as I can see, this device is 100% compatible with any OS that has a TCP/IP stack and a GUI browser. Hylton just needs to make sure that the ADSL config options are compatible with his ISP (e.g. PPPoA/PPPoE, ATM settings etc.) Theo -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
