have you ever experienced this problem? On my desktop workstation a user 'yuliansu' always have problem with her "Computer" menu (the main menu in Gnome) => click it have no response, and sometimes cause gnome-panel to halt (the gnome-panel no respond).
top shows this user's process 'main-menu' have used up around 40% memory. I am not sure if this means 40% of total amount of virtual memory (4GB x 40% = 1GB) or physical memory (2GB x 40% = 512MB) but anyway this figure looks wrong.
Even for a normal user (zhangwei) his main-menu took 7% amount of memory, either (4GB x 7% =) 280MB or half of it looks like too much for such a small application. Do you have similar problem on SuSE 10.2?
This is my top(1) output (sort by memory usage)
