I just got around to upgrading our server from 8.2 to 9.3. One of the niggles I am facing is some changes (?) in some of the ppp scripts. I have 2 modems connected for incoming connections. I noticed, with mostly config files from 8.2 still there, that the incoming works, but do extra things not needed for dialin. These are mostly in the poll.tcpip script. The ip-up script calls this but apparently looks for a variable RUN_POLL_TCPIP, which after some digging should be put in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-ppp0 IIANM. Does anyone have incoming dial connections with an example of what should be in ifcfg-ppp0 for a dialin connection. I have googled til I'm cross-eyed and everything I have found seems to be for dialing up to a provider, not being the one called. For the present distress, realizing it would be undone by an update, I have inelegantly just commented out the run_poll_tcpip line in ip-up till I can turn it off the way it appears to be designed.
