The font is way so big now. In your /etc/lilo.conf, add the line 'vga=ask' near the top. Re-run lilo. The next time you boot, lilo will give you a menu of console formats that your card can support. Pick one. When you're done playing and you've found one you like, replace 'ask' with the hex code for the mode you like. The menu will go away, and it'll set your favorite mode as it boots.
There's another way. From a text console (accessible via Alt-Ctl-F2, say) go into Yast, then System Administration, then Console Fonts. You can sample various fonts there, and the 8x8 ones are smaller. This didn't seem to work for me, though, when I tried running Yast under X, hence the need for the text console.
