It's just a shame that the follow-up to ReiserFS is BtrFS.
I don't know/remember if Btrfs does a similar trick than reiserfs, not needing a disk block to store a small file. Btrfs has another intersting feature, that compensates somewhat: it is, to my knowledge, the only Linux filesystem that supports data compression. ext2/3/4 has the flag since ever, but has not been implemented :-( Unfortunately, I still do not trust btrfs. - -- Cheers Carlos E.
