OR: use another smtp account with your gmail address. I have been doing this since I got my first gmail address in September 04.
Unfortunately, none of the smtp servers I use accepts any "from" address that is not theirs - except precisely gmail.
Ah! The trick would be to have two gmail accounts and post from the other :-)
Or host your own server, but on dynamic addresses that brings a host of other problems. Of course, with postfix you can designate the smtp based on destination address :^). I do not know whether opensuse.org accepts list mail from dynamic addresses.
It did, I haven't tried recently. The spam score (SA) went up, and with another broken rule or two you were out. I mean, sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not. And often failed silently. I did have postfix rules to choose server depending on the to address time ago. If it was to the list, I sent direct. Elsewhere, relay. Something llike that. Failure rate increased with the years, and the exception table became a nuisance to maintain. Now I always relay, but I have postfix choosing smtp server based on the from address instead, precissely because no one (ISPs here) accepts to send email with a different adress. So, I have to use gmail to send with my opensuse alias, for example. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
