Hi all, Well thanks to those who gave me input on my modem not connecting to the provider. I tried all the suggestions (aside from switching providers) and
Hi: I think you might want to try the following: 1] Contact your ISP and ask them to give you a test usrname and testpasswd. Try it, and see if there's still a problem. 2] Find someone that is using a dialup down the street. Ask them to put their ISP connect number, usrname, passwd in your settings. Test, and see if they have a problem connecting. 3] Contact your ISP and ask them to watch their log files for your connection attempt, and let you know what they find. 4] Compare your connect log with what's in your /var/log/messages file: ~>tail -200 /var/log/messages 5] Contact another ISP and tell them you want to test your linux box to see if their service will work smoothly, because you're thinking of switching. Ask them for a test phone number, usrname and passwd. And, if none of the above get your problem solved, let me know, and I'll keep thinking. My head hurts already. <grin> Tom
