IMHO, it is a combination of both. There are major problems on *some_machines* while others work great, apparently. The kernel-2.6.x has been hyped to the point that I am certain people expect great things. From my personal perspective it wasn't the kernel that made me toss 9.1... it was the flakey interaction w/an external modem, along with a couple more minor things.
Hopefully, your box will love 9.1. -- ...CH SuSE 9 Works Linux user# 313696 Linux box# 199365
Man! There's got to be a better solution. I know a modem is vital to your ability to use your computer, but it the grand scheme of the OS it's almost trivial. It depends what you use it for, I guess. For me, 9.0 is starting to feel ancient. Getting mono installed was a PITA, but, from the looks of it, mono will slide right in on 9.1. I'll need a new main board to get the stupid hyper-threading to work on this box, so 2.6.x does little for me. Did you contact SuSE support about your modem problem? That seems like it should be covered under installation support. - -- Regards, Steven -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFAw3RDwX61+IL0QsMRAq9mAKCkwEiaBZQ8CjUS85uo9wFwlLQ8YwCeK8LC hAqKfofNXQWkHhB6QOUPoOA= =3sWB -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
