I never used sax2 at all. I have an nvidia-gforce2mx which sax2 was difficult with. I already had a working xfree864.01 setup which was using /dev/mouse for the mouse, which was a ps/2 intellimouse i did the suse thing and then remapped /etc/XF86config, section for mouse as follows Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse1" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection I dont think i did anything complicated at all to get the mouse working ( I have v little patience ) I didnt use sax or yast or anything as i installed the usb mouse sometime after setting up suse7.0. So all i think i did was add the necessary lines to the /etc/rc.config file as described in the Suse Support Database. and changed the above. hmm i think theres some info about this in last months Linux Magazine(UK) something about a problem with the suse installation script being wrong. sorry but i have lost that issue. dids

After solving my lilo problem I have been able to complete the suse instructions at http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/usbmice64.html. But I still have the problem. of losing both kb and mouse.
Did you use sax2 prior to the suse instructions? I have tried it both ways. I got a little further using the instructions only. After loggin in I got started doing the settings for kmail but lost kb and mouse while typing.
Are you using a USB keyboard ?
