Considering that one of the partitions has 250 GB, that will take a long time. Better use a command that will not consider any other partition.
Like du -x, perhaps.
I tried using that on my system and the du command seemed to ignore the -x. Perhaps du -x |sort -n|tail -10 would work better?
The problem is that if you write something like "du -x /*", then you are saying "/", but also "/home" and all other partitions. I'm not a fan of "du", I'm afraid, so I don't really know how to use it to get exactly what I want, ie, a summary of each directory hanging from /, but on the / filesystem exclusively. I'd have to play for a bit, and then I'll forget the next time :-} - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
