I have two problems on two different machines. First, I have a USR56k FAX modem, which i flash upgraded to v.90. I can set it up with isapnp for ttyS3, but when i reboot into win98 the modem is aparently reset and is detected as new hardware. Win98 sets the modem for com 2, irq 3, so I adjusted my isapnp.conf file accordingly and did the following setserial commands: setserial /dev/ttyS1 autoconfig setserial /dev/ttyS1 spd_vhi stty -echo < /dev/ttyS1 and i got no error messages, so I thought everything was ok. When i went into minicom though, and set the serial port to /dev/ttyS1 and tried to initialize the modem, nothing happens. The other problem is on an old 486 computer with a Promise VLB I/O card (I just thought of another problem on this box, which might be related to this card). First off, both the backspace and delete keys work as forward delete in xterm. ^H works, as well as doing a back-arrow and then forward delete. I checked the Xmodmap file, but everything seemed fine in there. BTW, the keys work fine in all other applications, xterm is the only one that is working ass-backwards. econd problem with this box: I tried to recompile a kernel, i selected a plain ide kernel, with no scsi or special ide chipsets. The kernel compiled fine, but when i replaced the old vmlinuz file with the new one and rebooted, the system froze at "Loading Linux..." I have two ideas as to the cause of this problem, one being that the kernel didn't actually compile all the way. The other is that i might have needed a special ide driver for the Promise card (i was stupid and forgot to write down the chipset when i put the card in). The card is a Promise 2300. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
