This was also reported on forums. For some reason some users apparently have wrong repository type (repo-md instead of yast2). It is possible that both types of metadata were available in the past, I never paid attention.
My leap has and always had yast2 type.

Anyone know what is going on with the standard opensuse repos? I am getting this error for both the oss and non-oss repositories:
File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium 'http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/non-oss/'
The url is the one that comes directly from the opensuse website. Checking on that side, the folder /repodata does not exist.
This is the 2nd day in a row I have seen this error and not been able to refresh my repositories.

So I have deleted and added the repositories in question, this time adding the option -t yast2 to the zypper ar command. Is opensuse's new standard for setting up repositories to make them yast2 type? It seems it would have to be new, because up until a few days ago, these repositories regularly refreshed without a problem, and I had not made any changes to my repository configuration.
