Al,
Hi all,
I have two identical hardware systems. Identical SUSE 10.1 Novell purchased versions. On the one USB Card Reader hama USB 2.0 35 in 1 works perfectly. This is in the /var/log/messages:
[stuff deleted]
On the other identical system, it is not recognised. In /var/log/boot.msg I get following:

My Logitech mouse is recognised, but the card reader is not recognised.
How can I activate it manually from command line, or from somewhere in YaST?
I have a Suse 10.1 system that exhibits the same problem with a USB drive. for some reason, the USB 2.0 module, which is ehci_hcd, doesn't work properly. To get my system to mount the hard drive I need to issue the command, as root, modprobe -r ehci_hcd After issuing that command, which removes the module, my system recognizes the USB drive using the USB 1.1 driver. Since the mouse looks to be a USB 1.1 device, it is recognizing that. I don't understand why you are getting different results on identical systems. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the BIOS settings in the two machines are not identical. Anyway, try removing the ehci_hcd module and see if that helps. Mike -- Michael A.
