Mouse problem

Hello All, I have an HP Pavillion 6355 upon which I have installed SuSE 8.1. Everything goes fine during install, but when I boot up I no longer have a mouse. The cursor won't move at all and none of the mouse buttons click on anything. I have tried the original PS/2 mouse, a Logitech 3 button serial mouse and an USB mouse. None work. Can someone please help me out here? I am not a newbie to Linux and I have installed this same disks on a Gateway Machine at work. Everything works fine there.
