Dear Marshall, Are you using KDE? If so go to KDE Main menu select "Multimedia" and go down the list to KMix, click it and look to see where all the volume sliders are; ry them out. If this does not help write back and we'll look a little deeper. Things to check: Does this sys make the KDE event sounds? Can you play an audio CD? Are the cables and plugs clean and reliably connected? To the right places? Have you read the Gramaphone documentation? Just basic stuff for sure but youknow that it is usually something very simple that solves most problems! PeterB On Saturday 07 December 2002 03:02 pm, Marshall Heartley wrote:
Hello list,
Sorry for the abruptness of the subject line but I have REALLY HAD enough of this! I'm trying to get gramofile to work and I CANNOT! It starts file but will not "hear" any input from the sound card. I can hear it as I play the tape that I want to digitize but any application doesn't. I have disabled the arts server and even tried it with it running and no avail. The program wants a prgram called xmixer that SuSE did not package with the system. I found xmix but the program gramofile doesn't see it! It is not this hard in M$. What do I have to do to get this crap to work as designed? I'm using 8.1 and the sould card is a SB16. Any ideas will be appreciated. Meantime I'll be banging my head on the wall.
