Thanks for the answer. Yes UID starts from 1000 in OpenSuSE 10.3. Well, it is not that old, but are you sure just by backing up /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow and /home everything will be as it was on the old server, even on the new server?
of course like said an other answer, depends how the server is configured (by you). How usernames will be transferred? What
is "shadow" file?
the place where real passwd are stored (the /etc/passwd file just hold names and various options, shadow hold the pass). May be? you have also the use of the /etc/groups file, but this is not so sure jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-support-the-Linux-Documentation-Project/3720... http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-fan-page-of-Claire-Dodin/106485119372062?v... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
