Hi Nicolas, Would just like to add my +1 to everything Greg said. And point out that not only can our Build Service build all those packages for all those different distributions, but it automatically generates, maintains, and hosts repositories for all those distributions So it might be quite an interesting option for a new project like yours who wants to get your packages on as many distributions as possible Thanks for reaching out to us, I'm looking forward to seeing ring in the openSUSE distributions in due course :) Regards, Richard Brown openSUSE Board Chairman On 31 March 2016 at 18:31, Greg Freemyer <greg.freemyer@gmail.com> wrote:
Nicolas,
You have posted to the openSUSE users list. You may get lucky and find a maintainer here, but you're basically at the wrong watering hole.
I suggest you post to either "opensuse-factory@opensuse.org" or "opensuse-packaging@opensuse,org" with -factory being the one I would try first.
Good Luck and I hope you find a maintainer.
BTW: openSUSE is the most "open" of any distro I know. If you wanted to maintain ring for openSUSE officially you would be welcomed with open arms. You just need to:
- get a OBS account (http://build.opensuse.org) - get ring building in your home account - submit it to a devel project (and correct any rejection issues) - submit it from the devel project to factory (and correct the next tier of rejection issues)
OBS also allows you to create RPMs and DEBs for numerous other distros, so you can produce unofficial packages for :
Arch distributions Debian distributions Fedora distributions ScientificLinux distributions RedHat distributions CentOS distributions Ubuntu distributions Univention distributions

Hi, My name is Nicolas Jager, I'm working on the Ring project (https://ring.cx/) at Savoir Faire Linux.
Ring is a secure and distributed voice, video and chat communication platform that requires no centralized server and leaves the power of privacy in the hands of the user.
We want to make ring much more visible to all linux users. We are currently trying to find maintainers who can, and want, to make ring available to the official repository of suse/open suse.
If you are interested, I would be happy to answer any of your questions.
