I must be doing something dumb, but, I can't figure out what.
I recently installed Linux 9.2. When I try to send email using kmail, I get a message that says that the system, can't connect to my mail server. It also says that the transport protocol used was 'jgraddy'. That happens to be my user name on the mail server. The transport protocol should be 'smtp'. I can receive email without a problem.
Look in Settings > configure kmail > Network page > Sending tab
The 'protocol' in the error message refers to the what you have set up here (I have several set up and I use different ones for different identities/connection methods). Could be you need to edit your setup here.
Hope that helps Doug Doug,
Thanks for the reply. That was the problem. In my 9.0 setup, I had my username & mail server name in the first two entries in the send setup. That was probably wrong, but, it never caused a problem. With 9.2 it definitely causes a problem. All is well now. I appreciate your help. John
