HI
I've got this board running a driver version 173.14.15 (not available on the nvidia site - latest there is 173.14.12). This driver is completely pants for KDE4, it is slow as molasses going uphill in the snow and artifacts all over the place (its finewith KDE3.5) - does anyone know if this will ever be upgraded to work with KDE4? I've tried all the other beta versions 177.x, 180.x and they all exit the install script saying that this card is not known about and wont be installed.
Do ihave to upgrade my card to work with KDE4? If so, any recommendations? I'm not a gamer so i don't need any monster card. It can be ATI or NVidia but it needs to to have some life in it and not be deprecated as my current one seems to be.
thanks
Ian
Recommendation for today would be to *RUN*, don't walk, *RUN* to www.gearxs.com today and grab the BFG nvidia 8600GT w/1G of Ram for $68 US. Hell, if I didn't already have a spare + another radeon 1650, I'd buy a couple just to have.
The 8600GT is a great card, on par with the 8800GT, great frame rates, fast as hell, and BFG has a LifeTime Warranty and they Really do send you a new card if yours goes bad............
I have 2 8600GTs and an 8800GT and I have been more than pleased with each one. The performance difference between the 8600 and 8800 is negligible.
Thanks, I'll have to check out the stores in the UK for that board. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
