Definitevly a Sound Blaster Live. It already works under Linux and the driver is getting better.
A Live! card is great but do you really need it? A PCI 128 works great too and it costs a LOT less - at least here in The Netherlands.

I have a Diamond SupraEspress 56e myself and I never had any problems with it whatsoever. There are very few PCI modms that aren't winmodems so I'd spend the extra cash for an external unit (and avoid problems) if I were you.
Any external no-winmodem.
