Thanks Adam, but my external USB drive is 250 gigs, so I was looking for a more permanent install and a method for comfortably trying out new distro's without "messsing" with my internel drive on the notebook. Regards, -- SyapseR
There is a issue of the British Linux Rag called Linux Format that has several mini-distros as well as a few of the newer distros such as SlackZip that would install in a properly sized (128M) USB Thumbdrive.
You can also look at www.linuxgazette.com , the online version of Linux Journal and see several articles regarding Linux install onto USB drives.
There are also new versions of Knoppix that use USB Drives for whenever you want to save your /home directories and settings. The newer ones also take advantage of the multi-session capability of a USB cd burner and then you write it back onto the CD.
FYI.
