I really hit the wall here. Just as experiment, I'm installing from scratch SuSE 9.3, minimal config, no graphics. Everything went OK, rebooted, and I'm going through the initial YaST config. What I have done so far: 1. Disabled firewall (I remember some problems with firewall and browsing a windows network) 2. In the network config, set a name for the host, and domain name, which is exactly like the domain name I provided by the NT PDC on the local network. 3. Went through package updates 4. Now, on the user authentication method, I select Samba 5. It asked to install samba-client, went trough YaST, everything looks OK. Now, on the SAMBA workgroup screen, There is only one field available for edit: Domain or Workgroup, and the Browse button. The "Also Use SMB Information for Linux Authentication" is checked, but is greyed out, so I can not change this. The problem is, that the Browse button does not find my domain. The list is empty. And if I type in manually the name of the domain in the box, and hit "Next", I receive: Error Cannot use workgroup 'MYDOMAIN' for Linux authentication. Enter name of a domain or disable using SMB for Linux authentication. But MYDOMAIN is the name of the domain. It works on all other Win machines arround. If it helps, the PDC is NT 4.0, with latest SP. Any suggestions? Or the installer logic is wrong, and I have first to finish the install without setting up a user, then to setup samba-client correctly, and then to play with the authentication? Cheers Sunny
