zentara Why don't you try version 4.5? It is a major upgrade and seems to work fine. -
For some lucky folks. For me, Netscape 4.5 dies with bus errors when clicking on links like mailto:s. It also fails to start, leaves segments of itself strewn all over creation, and is will die on regular links too. Not too reliable here.
I just clicked on the mailto: s in your reply and it worked fine. I just got the thing off of the netscape site yesterday, maybe there have been bug fixes since you got your copy. I have the 128-bit encryption version, maybe there is a difference in the international version.
Happy to be lucky. :-) -
My international version of 4.5 works fine here too. Just a thought when 4.5 first became available Netscape mistakenly placed the glibc version under the libc5 directory tree. I found this version to be very unstable with S.u.S.E. When this was replaced with the libc5 version, I use now things seem fairly solid. If your having problems with Netscape 4.5 try typing "ldd /opt/netscape/netscape", if it shows libc.so.6, get the libc5 version. -- Regards Jo ----------------------------------------------------------------------- For greater stability - Linux FreeBSD Unix.
