I'm primarily interested in the latter: Remotely run an entire KDE desktop.
Also, what kind of display server are you wanting to use (Windows with cygwin and xfree86, another Linux box, a x-windows terminal, etc.)
I really need both: Linux and Win2k
I started a thread about using windows to do this on May 24. The subject is "Using cygwin/Xfree-86 to access Suse" The aimsgroup archive is missing this. Maybe you can find in the lists.suse.com archive. (my dns server is having problems, so I can't go look for it myself). Regardless, the first step is getting xdmcp working. That is the remote xwindows login server. Then launch the cygwin/xfree86 client. Once you get xdmcp working, it is also easy to connect from another Linux box: ie. From another Linux box Get a basic text login prompt. Login start x with you machine as the target. It has been a while, but I think that is "X -query your_server" Greg Freemyer Internet Engineer Deployment and Integration Specialist Compaq ASE - Tru64 Compaq Master ASE - SAN Architect The Norcross Group www.NorcrossGroup.com
