Did you try that kernel option as recommended? To do that just add irqpoll to the options in /boot/grub/menu.lst or enter it the boot menu to try it once.
No, I did not yet. I do not really know what this option does. In one of earlier discussions on the kernel list I've seen another recommendation, something that disables "irq debug". I was thinking of trying this one first (poll does not sound good for me :-)) I'll try to read about these options and they start experimenting.
