Anyway I try to avoid disk swap on my database, and push it to use hugepages and TLB extensively. I also use zram and change the unused RAM become swap.
Could you detail each of those two matters, please.
Hi,
There are many sources on the internet, postgresql documentation mentions it on https://www.postgresql.org/docs/12/kernel-resources.html#LINUX-HUGE-PAGES I made an article in indonesia openSUSE community blog (but it is in Indonesian language) https://opensuse.id/2020/01/04/tuning-konfigurasi-postgresql/ For zram it is very straight forward just install it from official repo, configure it, and start the service.
Yes, but I'm interested, I suspect others are interested too, in what YOU specifically did, what size BIGPAGES you used, how you set that up, what libraries or other binaries you assigned to such pages, and how YOU felt it affected the performance of YOUR system. Please don't cc me, just reply to the list. I don't need two copies of your reply :-) -- "Now look," Forrester said patiently, "progress is an outmoded idea. We've got to be in step with the times.
