Juergen, I found the script on the distribution cd. I installed the rpm and reinstalled navigator 3.04. I don't think the script is doing much for me but, I did find that if I call up navigator with the command and options "navigator -visual StaticGray" that 3.04 opens with no errors and everything is displayed in grayscale. It's definitely usable on the laptop in this way so, I'm thrilled. Thanks Again! Steve P.S. Sent this from netscape mail on the laptop... Juergen Braukmann wrote:

Juergen, I'm certain that this is my problem. Unfortunately my one semester of German is not going to cut it on the translation of that web site. I checked the U.S. support database and it seems Netscape 4.04 has gotten rid of the bug. I guess I'll give it a try... Figures, I have r.p.m.s on cd for 2.02, 3.04, 3.04 gold, and communicator 4.03...
Thanks for the help everyone, Steve
Just in case Steve:
---8<--- rough transtation starts -------- We (SuSE) offer a workaround for this problem. Get the package <A HREF="ftp://ftp.suse.com/suse_update/special/ntscp_ft.tgz"><A HREF="ftp://ftp.suse.com/suse_update/special/ntscp_ft.tgz</A">ftp://ftp.suse.com/suse_update/special/ntscp_ft.tgz</A</A>> install and read /usr/local/lib/netscape/README for further information. The package contains version 4.6 of libXpm, that will work with netscape. libXpm must be installed in /usr/local/lib/netscape/. Prior to starting netscape, the env. variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH must be set to /usr/local/lib/netscape/. This can be done either using a shell function or the small script Netscape (upper case N!) from <A HREF="ftp://ftp.suse.com/suse_update/special/ntscp_ft.tgz"><A HREF="ftp://ftp.suse.com/suse_update/special/ntscp_ft.tgz</A">ftp://ftp.suse.com/suse_update/special/ntscp_ft.tgz</A</A>>. ----8<-- translation ends ----------------
AFIK there is a script Netscape with the dist., but don't ask me were. I must have this lib here as well, but I never installed it. Sometimes netscape 3.01 crashes, then I use 4.04. 4.04's mailer causes a few problems with ISDN and dial on demand here, thats why I use 3.01
cheers
Jürgen
