hi david, how to get a root history? i know only the file bash_history, but i think you have some different?
Just type 'history' ?
thanks, not knowing this command. but bad luck, its the same as stored in file bash_history
I thought so too.
i was thinking its something more like a "for ever stored, compressed file" like some system log files
There is presumbly some limit - on one system, my root history goes back to June 2018.
I always make sure I store at least 40K entries in my history file.
