Hi, I'm trying to uninstall sendmail via YaST, when I do it installs postfix as a required dependency. when I then try to uninstall postfix, Yast indicates sendmail must be installed..... so the circle goes.
Any suggestions how I can track down what is causing this?
Then hopefully I can remove it, and uninstall sendmail/postfix.
I don't think the system is happy without some sort of MTA - why do you want all MTAs removed from your system BTW?
OK, I worked out what to do: /usr/sbin/update-alternatives --remove mta /usr/bin/mailx Then I was able to install ssmtp and send an email. I'm still not able to unistall sendmail|postfix, but at least they are no longer stopping me use ssmtp. Cheers Mark
