On boot command line you could add pci=acpi to force it on. Also is acpid loaded (run-level editor).
Positive, dmesg show all sorts of ACPI related output. Some progress though. He did find out that Intel does provide a driver for the NIC for SuSE 8.2 and has downloaded it. We'll try it out tonight or tomorrow night, and report back. USB is supposed to be fully supported. I can't remember what he said about the sound, I think there's an intel driver for that too.
