That's the "downer", it works PERFECT in Windoze.
When I've encountered problems with bothersome USB scanners which worked perfectly in Windows, but wouldn't work in Linux, I've turned to VueScan. Every time I've done so it's helped.
The Linux driver is excellent. I've purchased copies for all my scanners.

The oddball thing now - in Linux - it's working perfectly. And still don't know exactly what I did - I played with permissions in the .xsane directories in /root & my "home" directory, downloaded and reinstalled the drivers from Mustek Taiwan, got rid of the ndiswrapper stuff. At least now, I have everything backed up so if I get in a jam - just do a restore of the directories.
