Not sure, if this is your problem, but many people including myself had bootup problems with 11.4 until they disable parallel boot. Try setting RUN_PARALLEL="no" in /etc/sysconfig/boot
Regards
I re-installed OS 11.4, and went in with a live cd of ubuntu. I changed /etc/sysconfig/boot to have RUN_PARALLEL="no". Did not work. I installed OS 11.3 with the same problem. But when I rebooted and added a 3 on the grub boot-line, a text-based yast completed the installation. Now when I reboot to runlevel 3 I can successfully log in. Then I tried to go to runlevel 5 and then do startx, but then the machine hung. I fear it has something to do with the graphics (an ATI-card : ATI M93, Mobility Radeon HD4500 series). I did google before I purchased the laptop, and I found some successstories so I bought it. The unexplainable thing is : it worked.
