No. I've never gone beyond yast.

Since, you're using KDE 3.5, you should install the package synce-kde3 on your machine... using the one click install for kde 3 or directly from whichever package manager you like; I will not start a fight about that.
This is exactly what I did. I was careful to use the kde 3 package, although I initially clicked on the kde 4 button. But when that failed, I realized my error. I wonder -- there's a note that said to uninstall any synce packages previously installed from source. Would that include packages installed by one-click for the wrong desktop?
