The funny thing was I inquired to AVG about their antivir proggie for Linux. The list price is currently $800. I asked if they had a personal version. They replied that they only supply versions to servers. I asked what the difference between a workstation and a server in Linux was.
I haven't gotten an answer yet.
Because if you ask, you are not a potential client ;-) For them, a server is a machine that serves things to other machines. A mail server, a file server... specially in a windows environment, needs an antivirus: not for itself, but for the protection of others. That's why they don't make a personal product, no need - I guess. Antivir, now from "Avira GmbH", takes another look. They have a personal use product (PersonalEdition Classic), but in fact it is used to scan mail coming in in server fashion to one person only. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
