I pretty much need a Java runtime, yes. Partly because several sites I use provide Java applets, but mostly because I make the bulk of my living teaching people to write programs in Java :) Though it's a fair question, for sure.
I don't see a versions tab, nor any radio buttons. Hopefully the attached screenshot sheds some light...
Am I missing something? Using the wrong Yast? Completely blind, or terminally insane perhaps? I could believe anything lately :)

From KDE I do "alt-F2" "kdesu yast2" Click on Software Management,
I have a totally different dialog box than what you show. Then search for firefox. Then click on the versions tab at the bottom and move the radio button to the version you want. I'm about done for the day, so if that doesn't work for you maybe someone else can help you out.
