Something is wrong with the docs for 11.2 Internet Installation.
Work in progress :( Link in old page is now corrected.
which seems to contain much the same information as the original <http://en.opensuse.org/INSTALL_Internet>
It should be that way, but it is missing
Neither of them contain the advice I'm looking for, though. ... They assume I'm sitting in front of a screen and that when I boot the system, whatever appears on the screen will behave in some way they can predict.
The medium is NET iso image that you can find in: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/iso/ and it should be created in the same way as any other CD image. ...
BUT .. that's not actually what I want. I have a running linux system and starting from that, I want to install 11.2 from scratch into a new partition. I don't want to (can't) write some removable media to start the process. I want to do th installation from a running system (not opensuse) using an internet connection and local disks if necessary. Where are those instructions nowadays?
Still on the old wiki that will be switched on Jun 1st with wiki.o.o, so there is time now and after to save exotic installation ways. There is page: http://en.opensuse.org/Portal/OpenSUSE_Installation that doesn't contain newest changes (article mergers etc), but for the long time was dependable collection of information. I guess that: http://en.opensuse.org/Installation_without_CD can help, but I can't say much bout its correctness. It is talking about makeSUSEdvd that was used long ago when SUSE was on 6 CDs, also about lilo that is dropped few years ago. That is probably the reason that Spyhawk dropped it completely from current instructions.
Cheers, Dave
