Well I did everything except the part of going to /usr/src/linux and doing the make cloneconfig && make dep. I will try it exaclty the way you propose but first I would like to know, if you have the info, what Im doing with the make cloneconfig... step. Thanks a lot.
Ehhh, I must admit that I don't really know. But, I've done it several times - trusting the documented instructions - , and it never harmed my system. ;-) On the contrary, I ended up with a good working Nvidia driver (the 4363), where the 4496 failed me.
