Why! I can use openoffice with pdf work stuff. the latest version of course... I see no difficulties with it...
It appears you haven't understood the problem. Ok, have a look at any these PDF forms: <http://easier.co.la.ca.us/JobsInfo/empapp.pdf> <http://www.seg-social.es/inicio/?MIval=cw_usr_view_Folder&LANG=1&ID=39378> (click on one of the flags for your language) <http://www.aeat.es/AEAT/Contenidos_Comunes/La_Agencia_Tributaria/Modelos_y_formularios/Declaraciones/Modelos_01_al_99/036/mod036.pdf> Open any of them in acrobat reader (free edition), Linux or Windows. You will see a yellow message bar at the top saying: ] You can not save data typed into this form ] Please print your complete form if you would like a copy for your records It will also have a button named "Print Form" and a click box "Highlight fields". If you hover the mouse of one of the fields, it will change from a hand to the editing tool. Click and a pop up message will warn you again that data can not be saved, only printed in full. That is the problem, saving the form data. Yes, it is possible to print the completed form to a file, and convert it to pdf in several ways. That is not what we are seeking for. We want to save the data alone, a feature that has been removed from the free reader (version 5 did save it), and that you can find in the standard reader, priced at 300$, windows only (<http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/acrobatstd.html>). More info on how to save form data, from adobe: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=328647&sliceId=2 Associated to this problem is the fact that the adobe reader is the only viewer in Linux (or to be precise, those included with SuSE) that allows filling forms: neither kpdf, evince, etc, can even fill those forms, even though openoffice can create PDF forms. Thus, two problems: 1) save form data alone 2) find a viewer in Linux that allows filling forms, aside from adobe reader. - -- Saludos Carlos E.R. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFGv3LitTMYHG2NR9URAioXAJ40Z8XBxrZn7eLIcxQda2BzMV5yZACfWB96 2wWszD9SeHfq9jj096YJUe8= =CR6f -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
