I've downloaded glibc-rh packages, and I'm still having the same problems (the computer hangs when the SO5 installation window appears, it's not very funny to reboot more than ten times and wait to fsck to check my hd).
Is there any solution to this problem? I've seen here people running it with no problems (even with an older version of SuSE). How do you installed it? Which libraries are you using?
IŽm using SuSE 5.3 with the glibc extension(shlibsh6.rpm Serie a). After untaring the so50-package, IŽve removed the ld-linux.so.2 file in /lib and then started the soprep script in /so50/glibc_inst. Now IŽve added /opt/Office50/lib to my ld.so.conf, run ldconfig and copied tho whole files in /opt/Office50/lib/ to /usr/i486-linux-libc6/ . Thats not the way written in the README, but it works.
If you've added the library path to ld.so.conf, is it necessary to copy the new libraries to /usr/i486-linux-libc6/? I've just added a manual entry in a script to start Star Office so that the LD_LIBRARY_PATH gets set everytime I call Star Office. A little dusty and clumsy, but it works for now.
Normaly, I would say no. But the setup failed before I have done this. I think there were two files with the same name in both folders, Office50/lib/ and i486-linux-libc6/lib/ . So the newer library-loader canŽt handle the older library in the i486-folder. Maybe I donŽt need the other folder anymore. But why donŽt you set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH in /etc/profile for all users or in ~/.profile for one user?
