Note that this is *after* once again removing Firefox with YaST, then going to the openSuSE WiKi and installing Firefox 2.0.0.12 this time. Whether I install 2.0.0.12 or 2.0.0.13, when I run it, I get 3.0b5. (Apparently also known as 2.9.95-2.5.)
Check your local bin directory for a firefox start script. If you installed a binary beta it probably installed in your home directory and put a start file in ~/bin.
