Listmates,
Something was introduced a month or two ago in 11.0 that prevents keepassx from opening and causing it to segfault. When run from the command line, you receive the following error:
11:40 alchemy:~/.dcr> keepassx kpx.kdb Found Metastream: KPX_CUSTOM_ICONS_4 Found Metastream: KPX_GROUP_TREE_STATE Segmentation fault
It isn't keepassx, it is some library somewhere because I can open the same database from VirtualBox (with a shared local directory being my ~/ directory) with the same version of keepassx running in XP. I can also open keepassx in Arch Linux without error.
Are there any 11.0 keepassx users on the list that have a working install on 11.0? I'll try to find time to build the same version from source to enable debugging, but if anyone else out there is having similar problems or has a work-around, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Thanks.
This is one of those frustrating issues of works in windows doesn't in linux. The long and short of it was that somewhere in my kpx database there was an undetectable character or two of corruption that caused keepassx in linux to segfault while the same datafile and save keepassx version in windows worked beautifully. Probably some character encoding bug way down the encoding food chain. The work-around that finally got every OS happy again was to open in windows, export to XML, re-import the same datafile into keepassx in linux. Now all is well. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
