Romain,
if you take a look at this file: f/usr/share/doc/packages/alsa/SOUNDCARDS then you can read this (line 69): ID: Ensoniq AudioPCI (ES1370,ES1371) SC: SoundBlaster PCI 64 SC: SoundBlaster PCI 128 IF: MIXER,PCM,MIDI
I got a PCI 64 card running Alsa on ES1371 configured with YaST2, everything works fine except some (but not all) MIDI functions are missing. It seems that 'full' MIDI support for these cards is simply not available in Linux (yet!).
This is the AlsaConf output in my /etc/modules.conf file: # --- BEGIN: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. --- # --- ALSACONF verion 0.5.8 --- alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-card-ens1371 alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1 snd_device_mode=0660 snd_device_gid=17 snd_device_uid=0 post-install snd alsactl restore # --- END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
If it works for me then it should work for you, if you are running SuSE 7.0 at least. In 6.4 I couldn't get any MIDI at all to work.
However it doesn't... I have exactly the same alsaconf in modules.conf, but I have the problems that I typed in former mails... So... Romain
