I've noticed my trash container in Evolution 2.24.1.1 on oS11.1 isn't emptying even though Edit->Preferences->Mail Preferences-> Delete Mail -> Empty trash folders on exit is both checked and set to Everytime. First, did you try Folder->Expunge?
Yes
Second, my evo 2.24.1.1 on suse 11.1 doesn't have this problem but I remember I had the same problem with some previous versions. And I found a bug report with a newer version: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=568542 You can probably get an answer at evo's list: http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list
Thanks Toshi, but I did actually manage to get it to empty. Workaround Solution: stop automatic mail checking create a folder to hold e.g. temp4fix the contents of the inbox move contents of the inbox to the temp4fix folder click on the trash folder, highlight all items in trash and "Undelete" them (right click on highlighted messages) Wait for system to move and sync folders, at over 16,000 messages this took a half hour plus. and I did end up telling evolution to close when it was done at this point, when it fired back up a few minutes later, trash was empty create a folder e.g. byebye move the contents of the inbox to byebye Wait for system to move and sync folders, at over 16,000 messages this did of course take time and I did end up telling evolution to close when it was done at this point, when it fired back up a few minutes later, inbox was empty delete byebye folder and wait for evolution to sync. move contents to temp4fix back to inbox. turn on automatic mail checking. Now that you have low to no messages in trash, while the option to empty trash folders "Everytime" does not work you can right click on trash and empty it. I'm thinking that this is a size related bug. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
