I think it is a "feature" that so few icons are available as root. This is to discourage you from logging in as root!! :) CTRL-ALT-BKSPACE will exit immediately from KDE, but you will lose all your settings from the present session. On Thursday 22 March 2001 08:56, Linux News User wrote:

Also: there any one notice that this version of KDE 2.x is VERY SLOW when the user do a shutdown of KDE !!
Is more fast to do a CTRL-ALT-BKSPACE !! any idea ??
